Surgical Patient Information

When surgery is needed for your continued care, the staff at Palmetto Adult and Children’s Urology will schedule your surgery and pre-admission testing. We would like to accommodate you as best as possible when it comes to scheduling procedures.

Scheduling
Once you and your physician decide that surgery is the next step in your urological care, begin thinking of dates and times that would be good for your surgery. We make every effort in accommodating both you and the surgeons scheduled as best as possible. If you are unable to personally meet with the surgery scheduler, Amelia, please contact our office the following business day and ask to speak with Amelia. She will talk you through the scheduling process for pre-admission testing and the actual surgery. Please be sure to give the surgery scheduler as much information as possible regarding dates and times.

Pre-Admission Testing
If your procedure requires pre-admission testing, a time must be designated for this testing at least two days before surgery. The testing can take place up to 30 days prior to surgery. The facility will reach out to you the patient to coordinate this appointment.

Surgery Instructions
It is important that you do not eat or drink anything after midnight before surgery or your surgery will be cancelled.
Talk with your doctor about what medications you are taking, specially aspirin and blood thinners, as these medications may need to be stopped prior to surgery. Our staff will contact your insurance company to obtain any necessary prior authorizations for your procedure.
